NORTHBOROUGH — There’s plenty to smile about as COVID-19 restrictions are finally lifted. The team of husband-wife dentists of Dr. Nikhil Levana and Dr. Archana Karkhanis-Lavana owns Family Dental Group. They have offices in Northborough, Paxton and Gardner, and want to help you get your teeth back and your smile back for the summer ahead.
Dr Karkhanis-Lavana said many people have put off dental work over the past eighteen months. She encourages them to make an appointment before cavities and gum disease go too long without treatment.
The practice offers specialized treatments, such as teeth whitening. It is a treatment that has grown in popularity as video meetings are increasingly used.

Initially, this is an office procedure that will take about 90 minutes. The patient will receive a restraint to continue the maintenance treatments at home.

What a patient drinks, such as coffee or wine, can make a difference in whitening results.
Dr. Karkhanis-Lavana recommends having a whitening treatment with every cleanse while continuing home treatments to maintain benefits.
Another specialty of the practice is orthodontics. Dr. Nikhil Lavana has been a preferred Invisalign provider for 15 years.
Free consultations are offered to define the patient’s main issues. A clear retainer is worn, which adjusts the position of the teeth. The patient has appointments every two weeks to receive a new retainer for the next fitting. Restraints should be worn except when brushing teeth and eating for best results.
Dr. Karkharnis-Lavana said teens and adults enjoy results without having to wear the typical metal braces. Depending on the case, the treatment is from 6 to 18 months.
